The sold-out programme by Italian Cinema London will be screened as a Special Event at the 23rd Chichester International Film Festival later this month.

The festival, directed by Roger Gibson, includes the multi-awarded dark comedy “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer” by Pierfrancesco Diliberto and the documentary “The Voice Of Peppino Impastato” by Ivan Vadori.

One month ago the UK Premiere of these two films packed the cinema Riverside Studios in London.

The screening of “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer” will take place on Sunday 24 August at 4,15 pm in the main auditorium as part of the session “Special Events and Talks”. Clara Caleo Green, artistic director of Italian Cinema London, will introduce the film, which is included in the session “Contemporary Italian Auteurs” together with such film as the Oscar winner “The Great Beauty” and “Gomorrah“.

It will be a double-bill with the documentary “The Voice Of Impastato” by Ivan Vadori, which will be screened twice on Sunday 24: at 2,00pm and at 6,30 pm, in the section “Focus on Documentary”.

Italian Cinema London artistic director Clara Caleo Green commented:

We are pleased that our programme will also be seen outside the Capital and part of such a distinguish English Film Festival. Our main purpose is to share our passion for contemporary Italian cinema, which we are so proud of. The audience will appreciate “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer” for its new approach to the mafia: quite a different view of Sicily from that of the old cliches of The Godfather.

Meet in person two anti-mafia film directors

London, July 23 – Meet in person the Italian anti-mafia directors Pierfrancesco Diliberto (“The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer“) and Ivan Vadori (“The Voice Of Peppino Impastato“): the exclusive press meeting will take place tomorrow, July 24, 10:30am at “Courthouse Hotel” (19 Great Malborough Street, W1F7HL. In the evening of the same day, Diliberto and Vadori will take part in the sold-out screening of their films at Riverside Studios, organized by Italian Cinema London: the event will start at 6.30pm with the UK premiere of “The Voice Of Peppino Impastato” by Ivan Vadori. At 8.40pm, “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer” by Pierfrancesco Diliberto (aka Pif), a Sicilian TV hero recently awarded as Best New Director at the David Di Donatello 2014 and at Nastri D’Argento Awards 2014. The screening will be followed by aQ&A hosted by the journalists Clare Longrigg (“Guardian Weekend”, “Mafiology.com”) and Marco Varvello (“Rai London”). An extra screening will take place on Sunday 27 1pm.

The aim of Italian Cinema London is to offer the public two new films challenging old perceptions of a mafia-run Sicily and to encourage a better knowlege of compemporary Italian film makers. The event is part of the “Final Film Programme” of Riverside Studios before its clousure for redevelopment. Italian Cinema London organizes the screenings with the kind support of the Consul of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute in London, Rai Trade, Wildside production, The Italian Bookshop, Fred Film Radio, The Courthouse Hotel, the Italian association Efasce, the food company Friuliamo.

UK premiere “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer”

Double bill together with the documentary “The Voice of Peppino Impastato”

Italian Cinema Londonpresents the UK premiere of the the dark comedy “The Mafia Kills Only In The Summer” by Pierfrancesco Diliberto, recently awarded as Best New Director at the David Di Donatello 2014.

The screening will take place at Riverside Studios, London, on July 24 h8.40 pm followed by a Q&A with the Sicilian director, aka “Pif”.

The evening will start at 6.30pm with the UK Premiere of the documentary “The Voice of Peppino Impastato” by the Italian journalist Ivan Vadori.

The aim of Italian Cinema London is to offer the public two new films challenging old perceptions of a mafia-run Sicily and to encourage a better knowlege of the compemporary Italian authors. The event is part of the “Final Film Programme” of Riverside Studios before its clousure for redevelopment.

Last March ICL organized the #IDO14 ItalianDocsOnline Festival: the website http://italiandocsonline.blogo.it/ were visualised more than 19 thousand times both from Italy and UK.
